Diamondbacks 9, Phillies 5: Jason Kubel had three hits, including a homer, and Justin Upton added a solo blast as host Arizona took advantage of Cliff Lee being on the disabled list.
Aaron Hill doubled in a run and John McDonald chipped in three hits for the Diamondbacks, who have won back-to-back games following a five-game slide.
Wade Miley (2-0) allowed two hits in six scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Philadelphia gave Kyle Kendrick (0-1) the spot start in place of Lee, who is out with an oblique injury.
Kendrick did not have much from the beginning, allowing back-to-back doubles to start the game from Gerardo Parra and Hill. Hill stole third and scored on Upton's sacrifice fly.
Kubel had an RBI double and McDonald singled in a run during the four-run frame.
Kendrick was finally lifted after yielding Upton's homer leading off the fourth inning. He was charged with seven runs on 11 hits in three-plus innings.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Diamondbacks rookie A.J. Pollock recorded his first hit. ... The last-place Phillies reached five runs for the first time in their last seven games.
