Dodgers 8, Mets 3: Clayton Kershaw struck out nine in seven innings and host Los Angeles snapped a season-worst seven-game losing skid.

James Loney had two RBIs, including the run-scoring grounder that plated the go-ahead run as the Dodgers salvaged the final contest of the four-game series with New York.

Kershaw (6-4) allowed three runs (one earned) and five hits while improving to 5-0 in six career starts against the Mets. The victory was just the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner’s second over his last eight starts and ended New York’s four-game winning streak.

Los Angeles had been blanked in five of six games prior to Sunday’s scoring splurge.

The Mets jumped ahead in the first on a run-scoring single by Scott Hairston. Los Angeles tied the contest in the bottom of the inning on Juan Rivera’s RBI double to right.

Two throwing errors in the third by Dodgers shortstop Dee Gordon allowed New York to take a 3-1 lead, but the Mets returned the charity in the fifth by committing two errors as Los Angeles tallied twice without having a hit in the inning.

Los Angeles took its first lead in 66 innings dating back to June 24 when it took a 4-3 advantage in the sixth. Rivera walked against Mets starter Dillon Gee (5-7) and moved to third on Adam Kennedy’s double and scored on Loney’s infield out.

The Dodgers added two runs in the seventh when Mets catcher Mike Nickeas failed to handle a throw home from reliever Miguel Batista on a bases-loaded comebacker by A.J. Ellis that appeared to be an inning-ending double play. Bobby Abreu followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 7-3 and Loney added a run-scoring double.

Gee allowed four runs (two earned) and five hits in six innings. He has lost four of his last five decisions.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp was voted to be a starter in July 10 All-Star Game but won’t be healthy enough to play. However, Kemp has tentatively decided to participate in the Home Run Derby the day before the All-Star Game. Kemp hasn’t played since May 30 due to a hamstring injury … Mets shortstop Ruben Tejada has two hits and is 10-for-22 over the last five games … Gordon stole three bases for the third time this season and leads the majors with 28 thefts … Hairston went 1-for-3 against Kershaw and has a .400 career average in 20 at-bats against the left-hander … Los Angeles is no longer pursuing Houston’s Carlos Lee … Third baseman David Wright and pitcher R.A. Dickey are New York’s All-Star representatives. Kershaw joins Kemp as Dodgers participating in the midsummer classic.
