Phillies 6, Marlins 4: Hunter Pence belted a two-run homer and joined Placido Polanco and Carlos Ruiz by collecting three hits apiece as host Philadelphia claimed its seventh win in nine games.
With Shane Victorino scheduled for a day off, Hector Luna stepped up and drove in three runs and Kyle Kendrick labored through 5 1/3 innings for the Phillies.
With Philadelphia nursing a 2-1 lead, Polanco led off the fifth with a double to right. Pence then crushed a low changeup from Mark Buehrle (5-5) over the wall in left field for his 12th homer.
The offense proved to be enough for Kendrick (2-4), who improved to 8-2 in his career versus the Marlins. He allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out four.
Logan Morrison and Justin Ruggiano belted back-to-back homers in the eighth to trim Philadelphia's lead to 6-4, but Jonathan Papelbon worked out of a bases-loaded jam by retiring the final two batters of the frame. He then completed the five-out save by stranding Ruggiano at second base in the ninth.
Buehrle allowed four runs on 11 hits in five innings to suffer his second loss versus Philadelphia this season.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Jose Reyes extended his hitting streak to 12 with a 3-for-4 performance. ... Phillies reliever Jose Contreras left the game with right elbow soreness. He did not face a batter. ... Buehrle fell to 3-2 in his career versus Philadelphia. ... Jimmy Rollins has hit safely in 14 of his last 16 contests. He also had an RBI groundout in the sixth inning.
