Ricky Romero pitched a three-hit shutout to win his fifth straight start as the Toronto Blue Jays cruised to a 7-0 victory over the host Oakland Athletics on Thursday.
Colby Rasmus had three hits and a homer as Toronto went deep for the 12th straight game and won for the fifth time in six contests.
Romero (12-9) struck out six and walked two while pitching his second shutout of the season and third career. Romero has allowed just four runs and 14 hits during his five-game winning streak.
Rasmus followed Edwin Encarnacion’s run-scoring single with a two-run homer in the fourth as Toronto took a 4-0 lead.
J.P. Arencibia hit a two-run single in the sixth as the Blue Jays increased their lead to seven.
Brett Lawrie and Adam Lind also had run-scoring singles for Toronto.
Oakland starter Trevor Cahill (9-12) lost for the seventh time in eight decisions. He gave up seven runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings.
