Jeff Suppan pitched 5 1/3 scoreless innings and Colby Rasmus had two hits and three RBIs as the St. Louis Cardinals continued their winning ways at home with an 11-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Albert Pujols went 3-for-5 with a homer and Yadier Molina also collected three hits for the Cardinals, who have won nine of their last 10 at Busch Stadium.
Earning his first win of the season, Suppan (1-6) limited Pittsburgh to five hits without issuing a walk. The 35-year old struck out five in improving to 15-3 in 26 career appearances against the Pirates.
Suppan helped his own cause at the plate, driving in the game's first run in the second inning with a single. Two frames later, Rasmus scored when Pittsburgh first baseman Garrett Jones made an error on a ball hit by Suppan, giving St. Louis a 2-0 advantage.
Pujols belted his 24th homer of the season, a solo shot in the fifth, and Brendan Ryan lifted a sacrifice fly in the sixth to make it 4-0. Rasmus hit a two-run shot in the seventh, his 17th of the year, and followed Matt Holliday's two-run double an inning later with an RBI single.
Jeff Clement spoiled St. Louis' shutout bid in the eighth with a solo homer for the Pirates, who have lost 27 of their last 31 road games and seven of nine overall.
Pirates starter Daniel McCutchen (1-5) worked 5 2/3 innings, yielding four runs - three earned - six hits and six walks.
