Russell Martin hit a three-run homer and Casey Blake and Andre Ethier drove in two runs apiece to help the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 9-7 victory over the visiting Chicago Cubs on Friday night.
Chad Billingsley (7-4) struck out nine in seven innings. He gave up four runs and seven hits for his first win since May 31.
Martin hit his fifth blast of the season in the bottom of the second inning to give the Dodgers a 3-1 lead.
Blake had a sacrifice fly in a three-run third inning and doubled home a run in the fifth. Ethier went 3-for-5 and had run-scoring singles in both the third and fourth innings.
The Cubs scored twice in the ninth and had the tying run at the plate with two outs but closer Jonathan Broxton struck out Tyler Colvin in a non-save situation to end things.
The Dodgers roughed up Cubs starter Ted Lilly (3-8) for seven runs – five earned – and seven hits over 3 2/3 innings.
Aramis Ramirez tripled in a run in the Chicago ninth and Marlon Byrd followed with a run-scoring single. Byrd went 4-for-5 with three RBIs.
