Andy Pettitte dominated in his return and Mark Teixeira homered as the New York Yankees beat up on the Minnesota Twins, 7-1, on Saturday.
Jorge Posada added three hits, including his sixth homer, and Derek Jeter drove in a run for the Yankees, who have won two straight at home after dropping four of five on the road.
Pettitte (5-0), who had his last start skipped due to an inflamed elbow, showed no signs of discomfort against the Twins in surrendering just two hits while walking three and striking out a pair in 6 1/3 innings.
The veteran left-hander ran into trouble only once - in the sixth inning - but got Joe Mauer to fly out with two runners on.
New York plated single runs in the first, second and sixth off Minnesota starter Francisco Liriano before really breaking it open in the seventh off the Twins bullpen, with Teixeira blasting a two-run shot off Jesse Crain and Posada added a two-run shot off Ron Mahay.
Liriano (4-2) suffered his second consecutive loss, allowing three runs on nine hits in six innings while striking out nine.
Mauer drove in the lone run and Justin Morneau had two hits for Minnesota, which has dropped three of four.
