Jake Cave hit a tying two-run homer with two outs in the ninth inning and the Colorado Rockies pushed across a run in the 10th to post a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night in Anaheim, Calif.
Michael Toglia also hit a two-run homer for the Rockies, who won their second straight game following a five-game slide.
Mickey Moniak hit a solo homer and Logan O'Hoppe belted a two-run shot for the Angels. Taylor Ward had an RBI double, and Moniak and Michael Stefanic each had two hits for Los Angeles.
Toglia and Brendan Rodgers had two hits apiece for Colorado, while Victor Vodnik (3-1) pitched a scoreless ninth.
The Angels lost hours after learning that three-time American League MVP Mike Trout will miss the rest of the season due to a second torn meniscus in his left knee. Trout initially sustained a meniscus tear on April 29.
Aaron Schunk came in to pinch-run and start the Colorado 10th inning on second base. Sam Hilliard laid down a sacrifice bunt on the first pitch, and Los Angeles reliever Hans Crouse (4-3) made a low throw to first that got away from second baseman Luis Guillorme, who was covering at first, letting Schunk come around to score.
In the bottom of the 10th, Guillorme was the runner on second, and he later reached third on a wild pitch by Tyler Kinley. But Willie Calhoun and O'Hoppe each grounded out as Kinley registered his sixth save.
Colorado trailed 4-2 entering the ninth inning. Ryan McMahon led off by drawing a walk and Cave later ripped a two-run blast to center off Hunter Strickland to tie the score. It was his fourth of the season.
Carson Fulmer struck out eight in six innings for the Angels and gave up two runs on three hits and one walk.
Colorado's Ryan Feltner allowed three runs and seven hits over six innings. He struck out three and walked one.
Moniak slugged a 412-foot homer over the wall in center in the sixth. It was his seventh of the season.
Ward's double to left in the seventh made it 4-2.
Rodgers singled off Fulmer with one out in the second, and Toglia followed with a homer to center. It was his 19th blast of the season.
The Angels knotted the score in the fourth. Calhoun led off with a single, and O'Hoppe bashed a 454-foot homer to center. It was O'Hoppe's 16th of the season.
